• Anúncio necrológico / Agradecimento de condolencias: By Republican American, 15 Jul 2010. ORLANDO, Fla. '96 Mr. Neo Santos Silva, 67, formerly of Waterbury, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2010, in Florida.
Neo was born Oct. 25, 1942, in Fogo, Cape Verde Island, son of the late Arteneo Santos and Eugenio (Araujo) Silva. He immigrated to the United States in 1949. He came to this country with determination and aspirations for his future. He was a sergeant in the United States Military and graduated with a master's degree in accounting from Post University and Quinnipiac University with honors. He retired as accounting manager at Pratt & Whitney, and then proceeded to work as controller for Rossi American Hardwoods. He was also former president and treasurer of the Cape Verdean Social Club of Waterbury. He was a devoted father and exceptional man who will be loved and remembered by those who know him as a well-respected, kind and intelligent man.
He leaves behind two daughters, Monica Silva Brown and her husband, Darnell, of Waterbury, and Tina Silva Carvalho of Orlando, Fla.; five brothers, Tito Silva and his wife, Maria, of Naugatuck, John Silva and his wife, Lenore, of Ocala, Fla., Jack Silva and Anthony Silva, both of Waterbury, and Bebeto Medina of Cape Verde; and four sisters, Maria Lopes and her husband, Jose, of Waterbury, Maria Silva and Palmira Gomes, both of Waterbury, and Odette Gomes of Cape Verde. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Reia and Kevin Brown of Waterbury, Devez Carvalho and Antonio Cruz of Orlando, Fla., Ashmed and Alicia Rahim of Waterbury, and Reazz Bakesh of Coral Springs, Fla. He was predeceased by a brother, Joaquim Silva, and his son-in-law, Joao Carvalho.
Arrangements: Military funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. Burial will be held in Fogo, Cape Verde Island, at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
